Entry #8 Romanticizing Life

Sometimes romanticizing life is the only way to get through it!

Life as a full time college student can be intense. We all know this. Then you add all of the normal “life” things. Work, family, religion, relationships, extracurricular activities, and sports. It is all so much! I find myself overwhelmed 99% of the time.

But when I stop and think about it, what a blessing this life is. It is truly a gift to be able to do all of these things. I am able to learn, to dance, to communicate, to accomplish things. It amazes me what we, as humans, are capable of and the way we get to spend our lives.

If I have learned anything in my first year of college, it is that life is more fun when you romanticize it. If I have a lot of homework to do, I like going to cute coffee shops, listening to music, and getting it done! I essentially pretend to be the main character of a movie. We can trick our brains into thinking that things are more enjoyable than they truly are. It is all in the mind. If we are constantly complaining about homework, of course it will feel awful. If we take it as it is, while being productive and smart, we are most likely going to enjoy the process more.

  2. I love this outlook on life. It's easy to get wrapped up in the negative aspects in life and taking the time to appreciate the little luxuries is a simple way to uplift your mood and outlook.

I couldn't agree more with your opening, my life has been really intense and stressful lately but I do enjoy counting my blessings and giving thanks to God for each day I wake up to work toward a life worth living. I hope you continue reaping great endeavors and the best to your future semesters!

  5. Hi Anna! I couldn't agree more, sometimes you just have to romanticize your life to get through it. I have started trying to see the joys in the little things and it has made me appreciate everything I have more. It such a simple statement but it has the biggest impact on you when you apply it to your life!
