Entry #10 Because it Happened

In the words of Dr Seuss, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”.

I closed my production of Beauty and the Beast last night. This show was incredibly challenging for me, mostly due to my entire semester being immensely stressful. I had far too much on my plate, and it caused me to enjoy everything less. That being said, I absolutely love theatre and working on this show was a blast. Speaking of work, we spent approximately 202 hours working on this show over the last two months. All of it felt worth it on stage. The stress, the anxiety, the blood, sweat and tears, it was all worth it. I have always wanted to do a Disney show like this one. It felt magical. Singing tea pots, dancing trees, flying wolves, glittery costumes and a massive castle. It was an honor to be a part of it. I am always really sad when shows end. It hasn’t quite hit that it is over yet, but once it does, the tears will definitely come. The cast truly does become a family, and it is hard knowing that the same family will never perform that same show again. But that is part of the beauty of life. It is always changing.

I am a very sentimental person and it is sometimes really hard for me to enjoy things in the present moment. I am always thinking about how “this is the last time I will be doing this” or how “I will never have this same moment again” and I end up missing some of life’s best moments. It seems dramatic but that is how my brain works. I am working on appreciating life for what it is at that exact moment. It is so important to be present and smile when things happen. Life goes far too quickly for us to not enjoy it!

  1. Hey Anna, your sentimentality and appreciation for memorable moments of life are extremely truthful and remind me to savor each experience and embrace the present fully. Your commitment to finding gratitude in the moment is a valuable perspective to have in life. Also, I like how you started your blog with the Dr. Seuss quote. Wish you the best of luck in your theater career!
